غرفة التجارة الأمريكية في مصر هي الغرفة الـ 44 التي يتم إنشاؤها خارج الولايات المتحدة، والأولى في الشرق الأوسط. في 18 يناير عام 1983، قامت الغرفة بانتخاب مجلس الأمناء الأول. ويتكون مجلس أمناء غرفة التجارة الأمريكية في مصر من 13 عضو مجلس إدارة يتم انتخابهم كل عامين. 
عبر السنوات الماضية، كانت غرفة التجارة الأمريكية في مصر بمثابة منتدى للأعضاء يتمكنون فيه من التعرف على التحديات التي تواجه المشروعات الخاصة، ومناقشتها، ويقدمون من خلالها آرائهم للحكومتين المصرية والأمريكية. 

تمثل غرفة التجارة الأمريكية في مصر مصالح الشركات المصرية والأمريكية العاملة في مصر، وهي تضم حاليًا أكثر من 1800 من كبار قادة الأعمال كأعضاء، بما في ذلك أي شركة أمريكية تعمل في مصر من الشركات التي تصنفها مجلة "فورتشن" ضمن الشركات الـ 500 الأكبر في الولايات المتحدة.

يتم تنفيذ جميع أنشطة الغرفة من خلال 21 لجنة متخصصة تغطي المجالات الاقتصادية المختلفة.

يقوم وفد من الغرفة بزيارة واشنطن العاصمة في حملات طرق الأبواب السنوية خلال الـ 29 سنة الماضية، وذلك بهدف تعزيز الشراكة الاقتصادية الاستراتيجية مع الولايات المتحدة. وتجتمع وفود غرفة التجارة الأمريكية في مصر مع الإدارة الأمريكية، وأعضاء من الكونجرس، ومفكرين، وممثلين عن وسائل الإعلام، وذلك بهدف التواصل معهم حول عملية الإصلاح الاقتصادي في مصر، ونمو إجمالي الناتج القومي، ونجاح الاقتصاد المصري كاقتصاد صاعد.

بالإضافة إلى جهودها في مجال حشد الدعم، تقدم الغرفة مجموعة كبيرة من الخدمات المتخصصة في مجال الأعمال، لأعضائها ولمجتمع الأعمال بشكل عام، بما في ذلك بناء قدرات الموارد البشرية، وخدمات التوظيف، وتوفير مصادر المعلومات، والخدمات التجارية، وغيرها.

تعد غرفة التجارة الأمريكية في مصر واحدة من أكبر الغرف الخارجية التابعة لغرفة التجارة الأمريكية في الولايات المتحدة، وأكثرها نشاطًا. 

غرفة التجارة الأمريكية في مصر عضو في "الاتفاق العالمي للأمم المتحدة"، ومدافعة عن مبادئه العشرة المتفق عليها عالميًا في مجالات حقوق الإنسان، والعمل، والبيئة، ومكافحة الفساد، وتعزيز المسؤولية المجتمعية للشركات، وبناء مشروعات وأسواق مشروعة اجتماعيًا.
