Role synopsisThe post holder provides direct support and advice to Projects with the aim of ensuring compliance with the Environmental Regulatory Requirements, facilitating the Environmental Permits and verifying the implementation of the Regulatory Commitments. The post holder maintains a working knowledge of the local environmental regulations, BP Environmental Requirements, and technical and scientific aspects of environmental issues within their operations. BP Environmental Advisor also generates and/or assists in the generation of environmental permit applications, regulatory and company reports, environmental studies, etc.
Key accountabilities1) Provide Technical Environmental support to Projects
2) Manage/Follow-up the on the preparations of Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Studies and sure livelihood of ESIA mitigations and commitments;
3) Monitor projects Environmental Performance by setting and tracking specific KPIs;
4) Conduct regular internal environmental audits/inspections on project and contractor sites;
5) Ensure implementation of EMS Procedures, Environmental Practices, and BP Environmental Reporting Requirement;
6) Monitor Environmental Regulatory Compliance and Permits, by following up on compliance tasks, gaps closure and updating compliance registers
7) Effectively manage environmental aspects including waste management, air emissions, oil spill management, etc;
8) Maintain regulatory compliance registers such as Environmental and Hazardous waste registers; and
9) Maintain strong communication with regulatory agencies, counterparts within the oil and gas companies operating in Egypt and Environmental Expertise within BP.
Essential EducationBachelor Degree in Science/Engineering.
Essential experience and job requirements• Around 7 years of experience within the environmental field
• Bachelor Degree in Science/Engineering.
• Working knowledge of local and international environmental regulations
• Working knowledge of Industry and industry standards
• Working knowledge of technical and scientific aspects of various environmental issues within their operations, including:
o Energy Efficiency
o Environmental & Social Impact Assessment
o Water/Wastewater Management
o Air Emissions Sampling & Monitoring, etc
o Solid & Hazardous Waste Management
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
• Fluency in both spoken and written English and Arabic
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision
• Ability to establish target timelines and manage deliverables according to agreed-upon timeframe
• Ability to contribute effectively in a team environment.
•Comfortable working in fast paced, high pressure environment, with high incidence of unscheduled requests
Desirable criteria & qualificationsHas/working towards Post graduate Degree in Environmental Engineering/Science.
